IPS History
Our founder Scott Wigginton has been involved in the
telecommunications industry since 1985 and has been employed by such companies as U.S.
Communications, ASCOM Communications and Peoples Telephone. While at these companies,
Scotts duties have included service, installations, collections, regulatory issues,
refurbishment, parts repair, revenue analysis, purchasing and management. During is tenure
Scott noticed that there was no organized distribution for all the supplies and materials
for the payphone industry. In 1994 Scott decided to start IPS, a one stop source for
refurbishment, parts repair, supplies, pay phones, enclosures and those hard to find
maintenance items.
The company was started in their 3 bay garage.
Scotts wife Becky would refurbish phones, while Scott was doing consulting for
various pay phone companies to help them improve their revenues and service. Word soon
spread about the new company that could take seemingly worthless phones and enclosures,
and give them new life. In January of 1995 IPS moved to its present location of 8,000
square feet in Salisbury, NC. In August of 1995 IPS added another 6,000 square feet to
bring their total to 14,000 square feet.
In March of 1996 another family member relocated
from Florida. Jan Wigginton brings many years of experience in customer service and
purchasing to IPS.
In November of 1997 IPS created it's presence on the
World Wide Web.
In March of 1999 IPS began to do repairs of the Mars
MS16 in house. IPS has all of the necessary resources and proprietary equipment to repair
and calibrate these fine coin handling devices.
In September of 1999 IPS became a distributor for
the Mars MS-16.
In June of 2000, IPS merged with TU, LLC
