Why Refurbish?
Why refurbish? Consider the cost of
new equipment, decrease of revenues associated with dial-around, prepaid calling cards and
increased cellular phone traffic. In today's highly competitive market revenues are at an
all time low. The IPP industry had previously thought dial-around compensation would help
recover this lost revenue, however, to date, this has not occurred. To date, dial-around
payments to IPPs are below the actual call counts and SMDR of the phones. To remain
profitable, you must take steps to decrease your service costs without decreasing the
level of service to the end user. Refurbishment of your existing equipment is one factor
that should be considered.
Analysis Prior to implementing a
refurbishing program there are other issues that must be addressed. In some cases, certain
types of equipment are not economically feasible to refurbish. Usually low end enclosures
and pedestals are not candidates for refurbishing due to their low initial cost. Factors
to be considered are: refurbishment cost, freight and replacements parts. When you
evaluate a company to refurbish your equipment, verify and compare the procedures and
materials used. Some companies price their services for a complete unit, while others give
a base price plus parts. It is imperative that apples are compared to apples. Another
factor to consider is the accounting aspect. Depending on the dollar amount of your
company's expenditures for new equipment, you may be able to expense the refurbishing cost
versus having to depreciate new equipment. Check with your financial advisor or
accountant.
Why use IPS? We know the first
impression a customer has of your company is your equipment. All phones, enclosures and
pedestals that are refurbished by IPS are powder coated. We use powder coating because, it
normally out lives typical solvent based paints and is a more environmentally friendly
finish. All finished goods are packaged in our specially designed boxes to insure that
your refurbished equipment arrives to you in top condition. We charge a base price per
